Alexander "Sasha" Spivak is professional artist, MFA.
After 24 years of living in New York, USA in 2014 Alexander "Sasha" Spivak relocated his Art Studio to Western Massachusetts, USA. Alexander "Sasha" Spivak's study of fine art began at an early age and showed incredible promise. He started to develop his unique style when at the Lviv College of Fine Arts. The artist's unusual yet sophisticated imagery brought him through the surrealistic period to the series of technically perfect symbolic and rich in content art. Constantly developing his style Alexander "Sasha" Spivak established his own visual world of POETIC SYMBOLISM. After too many questions about connection of the style to a poetry Alexander came up with a formula "POETIC SYMBOLISM = ROMANTIC SURREALISM". The "Grace of Interrelations" is a leitmotif of every artists artwork. Alexander Spivak's paintings are in private collections among masterpieces of such prominent artists as Wasily Kandinsky, Kazimir Malevich, Mark Shagal, Salvador Dali, Katsushika Hokusai, Utagava Hiroshige. |
Alexander Spivak about his art:
What would it mean to develop an idiom of plasticity in painting? The question has been on my mind for a while. In each of my works, I seek perfection of composition by attending to the finest details — and yet always leave room for something else, something unexpected, to emerge within the structure I’ve created. This is an audacious attempt on my part to sidestep visual art’s greatest handicap: unlike music, literature and theater, it cannot shape a narrative that unfolds in time. Such absence of a temporal dimension necessarily narrows the field of meanings to which a work of art can give rise. In confronting this challenge, I arrived at a method of formal transformation of objects. When, within the confines of a single work, an object is transformed into something else, the range of possible meanings expands. So even as I continue to believe in the virtues of static composition, which heightens the sense of the fragmentariness of being itself, I aim to make it possible for a series of dynamic meanings to emerge within the narrative I create.
